News of The Organ Building World Worldwide

Richardson/TX, USA, First United Methodist Church

Our opus 1840 has been built for the new sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church of Richardson. The installation is executed in three phases.

The organ is positioned on the central axis of the new sanctuary behind and above the choir seats. The architecture of the organ case strongly reflects certain elements from the architectural language of the room. The new organ is a freestanding sculpture of its own right but nevertheless closely related to the room and thus blending into a new unity.

The tin sheet covered towers frame the colourful new rose window.

The instrument inaugurated in 2006 is only the first building phase of the entire organ. Some stops are missing (added in 2010) as well as the mechanical console. It will be built 'en fenêtre' with suspended action in the center of the lower case.

Additionally the organ has been augmented by the projected antiphonal division on the opposite gallery in March 2010.

All photos have been kindly provided by the late Bud Kocher of Richardson.
